Day Six - Caudo's Winery
to Waikerie
Ramble's End
From Caudo's Winery, it was the longest
and final leg via Lock 2 to Waikerie. In conjunction with SA Water,
the RMBOA arranged for the Lock to remain open during
the lunch break when it is normally closed. SA Water
also provided extra lock staff to handle the large
number of vessels that would be coming through.
With help from fellow Ramblers and the
Lockmen, even novices to the locks had an easy passage
through the Lock.
The fleet moored on the Waikerie river
bank between the Murray Queen's mooring and the Ferry.
The final evening meal was catered by
Lions with entertainment by the group "Cover Up". It was
also a time to hand out awards and prizes for the
various competitions such as the "Spot the Pelican"
competition and the photography competition to name just
a few.
After the formalities were concluded,
Ramblers danced to the band, or socialised in groups
before retiring for the evening.
In the morning, the Ramblers went their
own separate ways, either going on to other destinations
or heading back to their home port.
