2009 RMBOA River Ramble
"Supporting River Communities"

The River Murray Boat Owners
Association (RMBOA) runs its "River Ramble" every two
years. In 2009, the River Ramble commenced at
Blanchetown, just above Lock 1 and travelled to
Waikerie. The fleet consisted of over 50 boats and over
100 people. Because of the poor river conditions below
Lock 1, many members could not bring their vessels to the
River Ramble and some came by road, bringing their
caravans or camping.
The Ramble had a combination of bush moorings and
moorings in the local river townships. As there are
always a significant number of
smaller vessels without on-board facilities, the
RMBOA provided portable toilets and a BBQ at all
overnight stops.
The RMBOA also made arrangements with the local
service clubs to provide optional catered meals to the
Ramblers at various locations. As a result, the Ramble
injected business into the townships along the path of
the Ramble and saved on doing cooking and dish washing.
Ramblers who trailered
their boats to Blanchetown had the option of parking
their cars and Trailers in Blanchetown, or in Waikerie.
By parking in Waikerie, these Ramblers did not need to
cruise all the way back to Blanchetown.
