2009 RMBOA Annual General
Meeting
The RMBOA's 2009 Annual
General Meeting was held on the 8th November 2009. As befits
a river boating organisation, the AGM was held on the banks
of the Murray River (courtesy of the Greenings Landing
Marina). Between 45 and 50 members attended the AGM.
The day was fine and
hot, but shady trees and a marquee gave members plenty of
shade. As with most RMBOA meetings, non-members are welcome
and as a result, two new members were signed up on the day.
Members took the
opportunity to catch up with other members before settling
down the business of the AGM.
After some socialising
and a cool drink,
it was down to the business of the AGM. An advantage of
meeting on the river bank is that if the meeting becomes a
bit dull, there is always the passing river traffic to keep
the interest. However, this usually isn't an issue because river meetings
remind members that they are there to enjoy boating on the
river. Like this one, AGMs are generally short, sharp and to the point.
After the meeting, the
BBQ was flashed up to cook the snags, patties and onions
provided by the Association. Members provided and shared a
selection of salads to go with the BBQ fare.
The BBQ lunch provides
an excellent opportunity to relax, enjoy the company of
fellow members in a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.
Members spend the rest of the afternoon spread out under the
shade of the trees and the marquees, catching up with fellow members
and telling tall tales and true about boats and river
voyages.
